Michele Assante

Michele completed his PhD in computational chemistry within Andrew’s group in 2023 at Liverpool John Moores University in collaboration with AstraZeneca and University of Manchester. In his thesis he investigated solvent effects for different chemical systems and how this can be correctly treated for Density Functional Theory calculations. The main output of his research was the development of ESPlace; a python package for the treatment of solvent effects.

Michele is now a postdoctoral researcher for AstraZeneca based at the University of Cambridge in the Innovation Centre in Digital Molecular Technologies (iDMT). Here, he is working on the digitalisation of chemistry and in particular on the merger of first principles calculations with AI.​​
