Leach Research Group

Yixin started his PhD at The University of Manchester in 2022 as part of the MRC DTP Programme. His research primarily focuses on the computational modelling of cardiac ion channels, especially the sodium channels, aiming to establish a holistic computational chemistry framework for the cardiac safety prediction of potential drug candidates. He is particularly interested in the exploration of various computational methodologies, including quantum chemistry, molecular docking and molecular dynamics.

Prior to joining Leach Group, Yixin obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), respectively. During this time, his research mainly revolved around the field of photochemistry. His master thesis involved experimental and computational studies on the development of novel azo photoswitches (azobispyrazoles).
