Sylvia Kaempf
Sylvia obtained her MChem from the University of St Andrews in 2022 with a final year research project investigating the thermostability of the enzyme Is-PETase and an Is-PETase mutant using molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. In her 4th year, she undertook a year in industry at Optibrium, working on a model for predicting regioselectivity for sulfotransferase (SULT) metabolism, phase II drug metabolism.
In the Leach Research Group, Sylvia is working on the project, “High Fidelity Computational Approaches to Exploit New Structures of Cardiac Ion Channels”, developing computational theoceptor models for cardiac ion channels, such as the hERG channel. The project is funded by the NC3Rs.
